Jan Canterbury served as the Project Manager for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s pay-as-you-throw efforts. She has written a user-friendly guide to PAYT and produced a video on the program now used in over 7,000 U.S. cities, as well as in facilitated Resource Conservation trainings worldwide.
An environmental scientist, Canterbury also was the Project Manager for the EPA’s “Climate & Waste” campaign, working with Fortune 500 companies and U.S. cities to reduce waste and its carbon footprint. In addition, she launched the American Big Cities (ABC) campaign, which convened workshops and satellite video-conferences to educate municipal leaders and provide technical assistance on techniques for reducing and recycling waste and cutting greenhouse gas emissions.
Canterbury earned a Bachelors of Environmental Science Education from Michigan State University.
